Total Folate in Food Portion

KOMPAS.com - As mentioned in the previous article, every person needs a daily intake of folate. The best sources of folate are from natural food materials, although we can also take folic acid in the form of synthetic vitamins.

We also have to know how many micrograms of folate needed by every age group. Then whatever food is a source of folate?

Wheat
Folic equipped cereal (for breakfast), bread wheat and other grain processed products.

Meat and beans
Eggs, salmon, sunflower seeds, beans, green peas, cashews, hazelnuts, walnuts, and peanuts (no salt).

Vegetables (The best folic source)
Cabbage, cauliflower, onions, rice bran, potatoes, parsley, parsnip, eggplant, and other green vegetables.

Fruits
Banana, strawberry, tomato, kiwi fruit, avocado, beets, melons, grapefruit, cantaloupe.

Beyond our expectations, milk, yogurt, cheese, fats, oils, and sugar, it was not a good source of folate. Except for the milk of pregnant women, who typically have been equipped with folic acid.

You need to consider, certain drugs can affect the absorption of folate in the body. Examples of antibiotics, drugs used to treat arthritis or cancer, or anti-inflammatory. Use of alcohol can also affect the way the body uses folate.

Those who apply the low-carbohydrate diets also reduce the possibility of folate intake, because a lot of variety of carbohydrates (such as cereals, bread, pasta and brown rice) that is equipped with folic acid.
